Blog Post

D.DeMarco

It’s been too long since I wrote a blog post for this page, and for this new journey I’ve been on. Describing it as “new” feels a little strange, because it’s taken a lot of effort and planning to get where I am right now. After I made the decision to finally go after my dream of writing fiction, laid the groundwork, and practiced writing anything for public consumption by way of my blog, I then went back to school for my graduate degree in creative writing. I could’ve just written a book and gone for it. I know that. But especially in the midst of the pandemic, it felt right to take it one step at a time.

No matter how many things you’ve done, or haven’t done in your life, pushing yourself outside your comfort zone is always a strange combination of fear and exhilaration.

You might do it privately, and savor that experience solely for yourself. Or you might do it publicly and need to steel yourself to handle whatever negativity comes your way. Whatever you’re doing in your own life, try to remember that you’re not really taking that leap of faith entirely alone. I know it probably feels like you are, but I like to think we’re all rising above those challenges in some way, every day.

I’m excited to share that I’ve completed Infinite Danger, the first book in my new Infinite Security series of interconnected, standalone stories. If you’re not familiar with that term, it means that as the series develops, some of the characters appear in one another’s stories. However, every book makes sense even if you haven’t read anything else in the series. I’m in revisions on the second book (Infinite Risk), and about 25,000 words into the third book (tentatively titled Infinite Obsession). A total of six full-length novels are currently planned for the Infinite Security series, along with several novellas. Things could change, but as of now, that’s the plan.

While I continue to write and revise,

I’m now also going through the process of having book covers designed. It’s been kind of overwhelming. When you look at a Word document on your computer that indicates 75,000 or 80,000 words, it’s cool to think that you created a full story. Looking at the book cover, though, … for me, that was a special thrill.

As I’ve discussed with you, my real last name often presents some difficulties for people, which isn’t ideal as I try to make a “name” for myself. Over a year ago, you guys helped me come up with the DeMarco surname, and I’m still so happy with it. You also helped me finalize the graphic for Infinite Security that will go on all covers related to the series. And now you’re helping me find the right name for a secondary character who will have his own story told in the months to come.

My intent is to have Infinite Danger out in the world the first week of June 2024, with the second book to follow the first week of August, and the third one in October. I have a small-town series to introduce before the end of the year, as well. As much as I’ve tried to plan, I’m also prepared for glitches to potentially appear. Like my characters, I’ve set a PACE for myself that includes a Plan, alternate plan, Contingency plan, and an Emergency plan.

Want an Advanced Copy of My Book?

If you’d be interested in reading an Advanced Review Copy of the first book in the series, Infinite Danger, make sure you’re subscribed to my newsletter. Then email me at [email protected] to let me know you’d like to read and review an advanced copy. Although after release (or at about the same time) the book will be available in paperback, ARC copies will be sent to you by e-book. If I hear from you about that, I’ll send you more information about what to do and how to do it. Ultimately, I’ll probably be distributing at least 10 advanced copies. Subscribing to my newsletter is a great way to keep up with all advanced copies, contests, and other exciting stuff.

I hope to share the book blurb for Infinite Danger in my April newsletter, along with more information, and even a first draft cover reveal. Well, maybe I should put the cover reveal right here…
